Athina Kyrousi Salvucci

Athina Kyrousi Salvucci, of Greek-Italian origin, is a graduate of the State School of Dance in Athens and the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens in the Department of Italian Literature. Since 2020 she has been collaborating with the Belgian dance group Siamese Cie touring all over Europe (Festival D' Avignon, Clermont Ferrand, Bezons, Mons, Ghent, Brugge, Strasbourg, Paris, Charleroi, Marl, Metz, Luxembourg, Quimper, St Brieuc, Rotterdam, Heerlen, Mainz, Nice) etc.
She has danced in various theaters and venues in Athens such as the Michalis Kakogiannis Foundation, the Concert Hall, the Embros Theater, the Isadora Duncan Institute, the Onassis Cultural Center etc.
She has collaborated with musicians Joe Tornabene, Emmanuel Cremer, Giorgos Kokkinaris, Luca Rossi, Paolo Presta, Vago Tedosio, etc, creating improvisation performances based on instant composition and with musicians Antonis Stavrinos and Yiannis Despotakis for her music-dance improvisational solo '' Without Preservatives'' at the 14th Festival of the Society of Greek Choreographers.
With the musician Babis Kanas she created "Blue Point" and with Giorgos Pappoutsis she created the piece "Spes Ultima Dea" at the music and dance festival Music in Motion 2016/ 2017 and again with him choreographing ''Oedipus Aurora'' at the Athens Observatory in Pnyka. In the winter of 2021, she is choreographing "Blossom Ground" for the senior dancing school Maro Marmarinou as part of the Athens Video Dance Project Festival in Athens.
In 2017 she dances at Romeo Castelluccis' ''Democracy in America'' at the Onassis Cultural Center. She has collaborated with dancers and choreographers such as Julyen Hamilton, Paolo Cingolani, Koen Augustijnen, Rosalba Torres, Tobias Funke, Anastasia Lyra, Titi Antonopoulou, Konstantinos Michos, Kyriakos Kosmidis, Eva Pagoulatou, Mendi Mega, Aliki Gousa, Angeliki Stellatou, Mariela Nestora, Elina Papadopoulos, Vanessa Spinassa, Eleni Pantazatou.
In 2015 she co-founded the Allopix group, a group of artists from different fields taking part in the Milan Biennale representing the young artists of Greece with the project ''Penduloop''.
As a dance teacher, she is interested in using and exploring different dance techniques, such as contemporary dance, Graham technique, ballet, tarantella and contact improvisation. She has given workshops all over Greece and in Italy.
In 2018 she became a member of the teaching staff of the Professional Dancing School AKTINA teaching the Graham technique and in 2021 a member of the teaching staff of the Professional Dancing School Maro Marmarinou (Petrova).
From 2011 until today, she has been intensively involved in preparing students for their admission to higher professional dancing schools and giving workshops in other professional schools throughout Greece with great success.
From 2016 she starts researching the culture and music of South Italy. Her great love for these hearings and the observation of their therapeutic dimension, leads her to introduce elements of the various tarantella dances of South Italy in her lessons of contemporary dance.
Since 2017, she has been collaborating and inviting Italian artists to spread the tarantella in Greece. She sings in Italy and Greece with Italian artists and choreographs in her own special way inspired by the tarantella. With the Tarantalma project, she organizes concerts where she herself sings and invites Italian artists for concerts, workshops, tambourello and dance seminars all over Greece to spread the south Italian tradition. In 2019 she presents her work "Alma Mater" on the theme of the breakout of the female body through stories of the modern era and stories of our grandmothers. The dancers are her students themselves.
